Timarpur and Civil Lines Puja Samity founded in 1914 with a vision to celebrate traditions, foster unity, and spread joy. We take immense pride in organizing vibrant and inclusive Durga Puja festival that brings people together in a spirit of camaraderie and devotion.
With a history dating back several decades, the Timarpur and Civil Lines Puja Samity has been a cornerstone of cultural and social activities in our region. Our roots run deep, intertwining with the rich tapestry of local heritage. Through the years, we have evolved while staying true to our core values of respect, inclusivity, and community bonding.
Our history dates back to the time when the capital of India changed from Kolkata to Delhi. This transition in 1911 led to an influx of many Bengali Babus in the new capital city. During Durga Puja moving to Kolkata wasn’t quite viable for everyone, hence the Babus living near the Secretariat area decided to celebrate Durgotstav every year in Delhi. One such flag-bearer was TPCLPS. Our committee was formally established in 1914. We celebrated our centenary in 2013 and became the second puja in Delhi to achieve this unique distinction.
Among other things, our artistic idols have always been an attractive highlight for travel enthusiasts. We have been awarded the 'Best Protima' in Delhi multiple times by various renowned associations. Owing to such achievements, our popularity has been increasing consistently and wide media coverage has been a fruitful bonus ever since.
We believe that our strength lies in the unity of our community. At Timarpur and Civil Lines Puja Samity, our mission is to perpetuate the traditions that bind us while nurturing an environment of mutual respect and harmony.
